Embark on an adventurous and inspiring tour to see the Royal Bengal Tiger in the jungles of Bardia. This package from Trek Me Nepal invites you to venture into the untamed wilderness of Nepal’s Bardia National Park, where you’ll see tigers roam in the wild. This is a memorable adventure where you have a very high chance to encounter the wild’s most ferocious predator — its own natural habitat. So get ready to dive into an ecosystem that’s still untouched by humans and come face to face with a real adventure in Bardia National Park. Â
This national park in western Nepal is where you can have countless sightings of wild animals. Wildlife enthusiasts from around the world come to this largest wilderness of Tarai looking for mammals, reptiles, and fishes. A mosaic of forests, grasslands, and rivers, this protected park is home to an incredible number of flora and fauna — some of which are not even found in other parts of Nepal.Â
Visiting Bardia has its own benefits — from the seasoned adventurer to the first-time visitor. However, it is the elusive Bengal tiger — that’s at the centre of attention in this program. Once you’re inside the park, you have a chance to spot one of the 125 tigers — a pretty high chance for a national park of this size. And with the number of tigers increasing, Bardia rightfully earned the prestigious TX2 Award in 2022 for doubling its tiger population within a short time frame of 12 years.Â
This means you have a greater chance of spotting the elusive tiger and enriching your tiger-tracking adventure. Additionally, keeping close to your guides will take you to the “hotspots” where you increase such chances. Spots such as Kingfisher and Tent-camp are a couple of such places where you’ll likely find photographers and enthusiasts waiting patiently with their cameras and binoculars.
Apart from tiger-spotting, you can experience a wealth of other activities. Rafting along the Karnali River, spending an hour on the banks of the Ghaghara, and observing the native crocodile are some of the fun activities here. Besides, you can have a guided jungle walk, spend an afternoon watching birds or just soak in nature with a jungle safari riding an elephant’s back. The park’s low-traffic character means that you will have a nearly crowd-free experience during your stay inside the park.
Bardia National Park has in the past been visited by renowned nature-loving figures such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Selena Gomez, and even the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They have hugely contributed to the care of wildlife and nature here, aiding to the park’s untamed beauty and conservation of wildlife. With the untiring effort of the park’s dedicated conservation team plus the local communities, these wild areas are under constant protection — along with the magnificent creatures who call this place home.
An evening with the sun setting over the lush forests of Bardia is a great way to spend your time here. With anticipation of eyeing the elusive Bengal tiger — this park offers you a magnificent experience — whether you’re a seasoned wildlife enthusiast or a first-time visitor. Take this fun and joyous experience with Trek Me Nepal — and see how important this fragile habitat is, and how inspiring nature can become.

Once you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, you’ll be received by our staff and transported to your hotel. After some rest and refreshments, we’ll provide you a brief about your upcoming trip to Bardia National Park. You will be briefed about the documents and essential gear if any, before heading on your epic adventure in the coming days.
Kathmandu Valley has the highest concentration of World Heritage Sites, and it’s only fitting not to miss them while you’re staying in the valley itself. A great beginning to an already exciting itinerary, you can visit plenty of places in this capital city full of heritage. You will visit the Swayambhunath Stupa (aka “Monkey Temple”) in the morning. Later, have a sumptuous lunch at a restaurant in Kathmandu Durbar Square — one of the three mediaeval Durbar Squares inside the Valley. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the temple of Pashupatinath, belonging to Lord Shiva, where you can soak in the atmosphere and watch the world go by from a quiet bench above the bank of Bagmati. Later in the afternoon you will circumnavigate the renowned Stupa of Bauddhanath — probably the largest stupa in the world. Feel free to customise a day-trip from a number of choices.
You will begin early from Kathmandu headed for Bardia National Park. After breakfast, a short flight to Nepalgunj in Tarai provides beautiful views of the Himalayas. From there, the drive to Bardia will take about three hours, through lush jungles and also along the serene Babai River. Glimpses of wildlife can be had here while driving through the breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, you take some refreshments, catch a breath, and settle in the lodge. In the late afternoon, you will visit a nearby Tharu village, where cultural dances happen year-round. And as the sun sets over the river, the forests will wash in the hue of gold and green – and the feeling will sink in – that you have arrived in the real forest, and are ready for a memorable trip full of adventure and discovery.
Begin the day with birds chirping and the gentle sounds of nature. Starting with a delightful breakfast in the resort, you will embark on a scenic safari along the wide river of Karnali. Along with the crocodiles, you might even spot some freshwater dolphins here, yes, dolphins. Contrary to popular belief, dolphins are not only found in the open ocean but also in tributaries and larger rivers, such as the expansive Karnali. The sight of “ghadiyal” crocodiles basking on the banks will certainly elevate the experience. The playful deers, flight of exotic birds, and the overall ambience will create a truly immersive experience for nature lovers. After lunch, you will take a jeep safari, go on the footsteps of the tiger and see the one-horned rhinoceros. The frequent sights of vibrant birds will certainly add to the experience; and later when you return to the resort for the night, you will reflect on the magnificent beauty and thrill of nature.
Start with an early breakfast and set off into the forests of Bardia. As your jeep rumbles through the dense jungle in the fresh morning air, an anticipation keeps building. Heed to your guide you will tell you different ways of searching for a tiger in its natural habitat. As elusive as it is, the Royal Bengal Tiger can be traced through several proven signs — paw prints, scratch marks, smell, and even their waste. The thrill of the search intensifies each hour as you move quietly through the thickets. On the side, you will come close to leopards and rhinos and even a leopard. As you will have your lunch in a serene spot beside the river, views of untamed landscape will entice you. And on a lucky day, you will — just like that — have the majestic sight of a tiger as it emerges from the grasses for a drink. You will begin your return journey as the day comes to an end, but the roaring bonfire will give a second start to the day — with shared stores and sumptuous dinner.

Once here, you will catch a breather, explore the evening and have dinner in one of countless restaurants of Thamel.Â
