The Island Peak climbing with Gokyo Lakes and EBC Trek is a 20-day adventure that takes you to some of the most scenic and challenging trails in Nepal. The trek starts with a flight to Lukla, followed by a trek to Namche Bazaar, where you will spend a day acclimatising.
The trek then takes you to Dole, Machherma, and Gokyo, where you will explore the beautiful Gokyo Lakes. From there, you will cross the challenging Chola Pass and trek to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, which offer stunning views of the Himalayan peaks.
After visiting EBC and Kala Patthar, you will trek to Chukung and then to Island Peak Base Camp, where you will receive ice climbing training. The highlight of the trek is climbing the Island Peak, which is a challenging but rewarding experience. The trek concludes with a flight back to Kathmandu, where you can explore the city before departing.
Island Peak climbing with Gokyo trek requires good physical fitness and some prior trekking experience. You will be accompanied by experienced guides and porters who will ensure your safety and comfort throughout the trek. The trek offers an opportunity to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of Nepal and is a must-do for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel.
If your arrival is in the evening, we will hold a guide briefing at the hotel. However, if you arrive during the day, we will have the briefing at our office.
You should bring 2 passport size photos and travel insurance papers. Our guide will give you important information and answer any questions you may have about the trek.

You will take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region. After reaching Lukla, you will start your trek to Phakding, a small village located at 2,610 meters. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Phakding, and you will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

The first acclimatization day on the Everest Base Camp Trek is in Namche Bazaar, the main trading center in the Everest Region. You can buy trekking gear and handicrafts and find accommodation.
We will also hike to Syanboche Airport (highest airport in Nepal) and Hotel Everest View, which offers breathtaking views of Everest and few other places.

On this day, you will trek to Dole, a small village located at an altitude of 4,200 meters. You will pass through rhododendron and pine forests and cross several streams and stunning views of snow-capped peaks, lush vegetation, and a glimpse into the local culture and way of life. On this day, you will hike to Gokyo Ri, a peak located at an altitude of 5,357 meters. You will get to witness panoramic views of Everest and other Himalayan peaks. After the hike, you will return to Gokyo and stay at a guesthouse.
You will trek to Thangna, a small village located at an altitude of 4,500 meters. The trek takes around 3-4 hours, and you will stay at a guesthouse in Thangna this day.

From here, you will get to witness stunning views of the sunrise over Everest and other Himalayan peaks. After the hike, you will trek to Dingboche, a small village located at an altitude of 4,410 meters. The trek takes around 7-8 hours, and you will stay in Dingboche on this day.

You will start early in the morning and climb the Island Peak, located at an altitude of 6,189 meters. The climb is challenging but offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. After reaching the summit, you will return to Chukung and stay overnight at a guesthouse.
This day is reserved as a spare day which means it’s a free day with no planned itinerary. It’s kept as a buffer in case any unexpected situations arise during the trek, such as unfavorable weather conditions or unexpected delays. This day can also be used as a rest day to allow trekkers to recharge their energy before continuing the trek.

You will also have a day to discover the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, including Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek via Cho La pass is considered to be more challenging than the traditional EBC route. Proper research and preparation are essential, along with a strong mindset to face the difficulty. This trek requires more technical skills and is more adventurous than other treks in the Everest region. However, with adequate physical fitness and acclimatization, you can handle the challenge. Sometimes, trekkers get intimidated by the difficulties and challenges they hear about from others. But, our experienced travel consultants can provide better counseling and preparation to help you overcome these challenges.
The ideal time to undertake the Everest Base Camp trek via Gokyo lakes and Cho La Pass is during the pre-monsoon season from March to May and the post-monsoon season from late September to December. While it is possible to do the trek in February and early September, it is highly recommended to opt for the aforementioned months for the best experience
There are several accommodation options available during the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Trek via Cho La Pass, ranging from basic teahouses to more comfortable lodges. It is advisable to book accommodation in advance, especially during the peak trekking season.
