Embark on a trek of the Annapurna Circuit in a magnificent program prepared by Trek Me Nepal. This travel program is set in one of Nepal’s oldest trekking routes, and is probably the country’s most popular travel itinerary. In a matter of two weeks, this journey is guaranteed to stir your soul and challenge your inner self.Â
You will set out from Bensisahar with excitement growing and the promise of a great adventure ahead. The drive takes you through winding paths along forests where the air is filled with the scent of pine and rhododendron. With each passing moment, the excitement builds up in anticipation of an extraordinary experience. Going through scenic villages, you will meet warm-hearted locals who are always ready to share a cup of tea and a moment of chat. The kindness and friendliness will act as a balm for your tired feet at times. While you will be wanting to keep listening to their stories, you will be pressed to move ahead.
Climbing higher, the landscape transforms from dense forests into semi-arid terrain. The air grows thin as the challenge intensifies, and you will be pushed to keep up on schedule. With your lungs literally working overtime, each step will feel gruelling — but you’ll be rewarded with increasingly spectacular views of the Annapurna range. The trek will pose difficulty on your body — blisters form, muscles ache, and the altitude sickness can be brutal. There will be moments when you will question your decision to come here. But at the same time, you will catch a glance of a beautiful mountain, and all doubts will vanish instantly. The beauty and grandeur will rightly remind you why you took this trip in the first place!
Reaching Thorung-La Pass at 5,416 metres, you will come to the pinnacle of your endurance. The air is painfully thin, and each step is a battle. Drawing a single breath will seem like a long and arduous activity — but keep breathing anyway. Gradual steps will finally take you past the pass, and the epiphany that will surround you is beyond words. Standing at the top of the world surrounded by a panorama of white peaks, your eyes will see something they have never seen before on the planet. The sense of achievement and victory will come at such an overwhelming magnitude that you will begin to feel lighter, wiser, and .
After what seems like a long stretch of photography, you will begin the descent from Thorung-La to arrive at one of the most sacred sites in the world — the Temple of Muktinath. Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims have sought blessings here for millennia. The journey then takes you through the windswept town of Jomsom. The winds here are so strong that you might be swept off your feet if you do not tread properly. Nearing the end of the program, you will take a flight from Jomsom — passing above the world’s deepest gorge of Kali Gandaki, where the wind howls loudly as if it were a living creature. Flying above Ghodepani and Poon Hill, you will touch down upon Pokhara, ending this trip.Â
This transformative journey will open your eyes to the raw beauty of nature and the richness of Nepal’s geographical diversity. Yes, you will return with aching muscles, but you will have a heart full of profound memories. From subtropical lowlands to the windswept highlands, from dense forests to barren moonscapes — the diversity of this route is unparalleled in the world. It’s a journey that will call you time and again to Nepal.

Begin your trek from Manang early in the morning, headed towards Thorung Phedi. You will cross a historic Mani wall and pass through the village of Ledar. From there, the trail ascends steadily through a rocky and arid landscape. As we climb you might encounter challenging weather and face increasing altitude, which will make the trek feel more strenuous and tiring. After three hours, you can opt to stop at Thorung Phedi or continue for an additional hour to reach Thorung High Camp. Wherever you stay, you will have stunning views of Chulu West, Mt. Gangapurna, and Thorung Peak. The terrain becomes harsher and less populated, so maintaining a steady pace and staying hydrated is crucial. Today’s challenging trek is a remarkable journey from Thorung Phedi to Muktinath. You will start by climbing steeply to Thorung-La Pass, at 5,416 metres. The path is challenging, with strong winds and thin air testing your endurance, but the spectacular views make it worthwhile. From the pass, you’ll see the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, along with the Nilgiri and other majestic peaks. Spend some time at this pass and capture images and videos. The descent is long but an easy one. Now that the hardest part of the trek is over, you will be heading through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge, to arrive at the sacred site of Muktinath Temple.
Muktinath is a revered destination for Hindus and Buddhists. It has a temple with 108 holy water sprouts, and a sacred continual flame at the Jwalamai temple. This remote and tranquil site is believed to cleanse one of their past sins. After the trek, you will hop in a lodge in Muktinath and celebrate the day’s achievements.

After breakfast, you will begin your descent to Jomsom, which takes about two hours. The trail leads you through dry, barren landscapes, charming villages, and the expansive Kali Gandaki River Valley. En route, you will pass through Kagbeni and encounter ancient stone cairns — reminding you of the region’s rich religious heritage. The path is mostly downhill and unpaved. It can get rough, particularly as you approach Jomsom, the windiest place in Nepal. Here, you will have stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks. The strong winds here can make the trek challenging, affecting your balance and pace. Upon arrival in Jomsom, you can explore local markets, visit monasteries, and soak in the unique atmosphere of this remote valley before hopping for dinner and sleepover.
Early in the morning, you’ll catch a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Jomsom, nestled along the Kali Gandaki River, serves as a key transit point and boasts an airport that handles flights despite its notorious wind. The thrilling take-off from Jomsom Airport is an adrenaline-pumping experience due to the area’s strong gusts, making the flight both exhilarating and challenging. As you ascend, you will enjoy sweeping views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Look carefully, and down below you will spot trekking routes leading to Tatopani and Ghorepani. The 30 to 40-minute flight will bring you to Pokhara, where you can unwind for the rest of the day.
After breakfast, we will begin the scenic eight-hour drive back to Kathmandu. Right after embarking you will have final glimpses of the majestic Annapurna mountain range coming out of Pokhara. The route is scenic, with mesmerising views of the changing landscapes, but the ongoing construction and expansion in the highway means the trip will be a slow one. Leaving behind the serene beauty of Pokhara, you will have plenty of time to reflect on the remarkable adventure you had in the past weeks. Later, upon arriving in Kathmandu you will immediately notice the vibrant energy of the city — a stark contrast to the peaceful trails you just travelled. In the evening, you can explore around, visit shops for souvenirs, or simply relax in a session of massage. Later, as we gather for the dinner, we will share stories of our unforgettable trip in the Annapurna Region.
After breakfast or depending upon your flight schedule we will transfer you to the airport. As your plane takes off from the runway in Kathmandu, your journey to Nepal comes to an end for this time — until you decide to visit again for some memorable and soul-searching trip in the Himalayas.
Altitude sickness is an important consideration for any trekking route in Nepal, especially as altitude increases. The Annapurna Circuit route is the longest and considered more challenging than the Annapurna Base Camp Trek due to the high-altitude Thorong La Pass, which reaches 5,416m (17,764ft.). The trek also requires steep climbs and long distances with fewer amenities. The route is closed during the winter season due to heavy snow accumulation. To complete this trek, one must be in good physical shape and able to walk for 5-7 hours each day. Beginners can complete the trek with at least 3 months of physical training that includes cycling, swimming, acrobatics, hiking, jogging, and cardiovascular exercises.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek can be done all year round, but certain months are considered the best time to embark on this adventure. The pre-monsoon months, which are March through to May, offer the best weather and views of the surrounding mountains. The post-monsoon months from late September until December are also favorable for trekking. Although it is possible to do this trek in February and early September, the months mentioned above are generally considered the most favorable.
In the Annapurna region, there are various types of accommodations available for trekkers to choose from. These include guesthouses, hotels, resorts, and teahouses. Guesthouses are available in a wide range of quality, from upmarket to budget options. Hotels and resorts are also available for those looking for more luxurious amenities, although they may be more expensive. Teahouses are the most common accommodation option for hikers in the region, and they are equipped with wooden beds, solar hot showers, western toilet facilities, and blankets. As you hike to higher altitudes in the Annapurna region, the lodging options become more rudimentary. The amenities become limited, with shared bathroom facilities and bucket showers being the norm.
