Kathmandu Valley, with its dense concentration of UNESCO World Heritage sites, is a tapestry of cultural and historical landmarks. Swayambhunath, perched atop a hill, offers panoramic views and lets you learn about the ancient Buddhist way of life. The nearby Patan Durbar Square houses exquisite medieval craftsmanship with its intricate temples and palaces. Pashupatinath, located on the bank of the Bagmati River, is Nepal’sone of many Hindu pilgrimage sites. Devotees from around the world aim to visit it at least once in their lifetime. The all-seeing eyes on the massive stupa of Bauddhanath gaze out in four directions, adorning its dominating spire. The next architectural wonder, the Kathmandu Durbar Square, is a collection of temples, courtyards, and palaces. Once home to Nepalese royalty, the intriguing Kumari Ghar now attracts crowds as the residence of the living goddess.
Next on this trip is Bandipur, a charming hilltop town with delightful escapes into Nepal’s rural beauty. You can wander through its well-preserved medieval architecture and admire the middle-aged buildings and ornate temples. This old town’s streets are car-free, inviting visitors to soak in the laid-back medieval atmosphere. You can have short hikes to viewpoints nearby for stunning Himalayan panoramas. If time allows, you can even explore the mysterious Siddha Cave, one of Asia’s largest.
From Bandipur, you will visit Ghandruk high up in the mountains. The Annapurna mountains nestle this picturesque village. Home to the Gurung community, this village is a treat for the senses with its terraced fields and lush forests. From the surrounding viewpoints, you can have breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, including the iconic Mt. Fishtail. The stone pathways of Ghandruk wind through old houses adorned with colorful flowers.
Traditional way of life is evident everywhere in this village, making you sometimes forget that you are living in the 21st century. As the dawn breaks with a spectacular light show, the sun’s first rays kissing the snow-capped peaks will make you forget yourself! As you walk the streets in the morning, you will savor the strange and appealing aroma of food, all while enjoying panoramic mountain views. The combination of authentic flavors, home-cooked meals, and hospitality will make for an unforgettable sensory experience in this one-of-a-kind village of Ghandruk.
Driving down to Sarangkot, you will have another of the most spectacular sunrise experiences. As the sky gradually transforms, hues of pink, orange, and gold will be visible in the sky, followed by the sun whose first rays will illuminate the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. This is a sunrise view you will never forget in life. Returning to Pokhara, you will spend the day in several activities in the valley.
This trip ends in Kathmandu, but before that, you’ll explore the narrow alleyways of Asan, Indrachok, and Thamel. Shops selling spices, pots, vegetables, thangka art, and modern electronics fill these bustling streets. You will feel centuries of commerce and trading in the thick air, filled with the aroma of incense, while vendors and buyers haggle over fabrics and wares. Shops sell trekking gear alongside handicrafts and singing bowls. The energy and flow of people speaking varied languages will be a welcoming factor of the old bazaars of Kathmandu.
At the end of a guided tours Nepal, you will receive a rich sensory experience, capture the essence of Nepali highlands, the beauty, and an unparalleled cultural experience in less than a week.
