Discover the hidden gem that is Khopra, and find out why this ridge is popular in the Himalayas. An unforgettable journey designed by Trek Me Nepal awaits you, where you can see the raw beauty in the Annapurna region. This trek to Khopra is the promise of an adventure unlike any other – a journey through pristine landscapes, traditional villages, and breathtaking mountain vistas. Welcome to the challenge and get inspired in equal measures on our carefully crafted program.

Your journey begins in Pokhara, the gateway to the mountains. Initially you drive to Nayapul, setting yourself in anticipation of the natural beauty. As you drive through the outskirts of Pokhara, the landscape transforms dramatically. Picturesque Gurung villages will welcome you, where you will enjoy views of terraced fields and traditional stone houses. Standing in stark contrast to city skylines, this is an immersion into a world so different from what you are used to.

As the trail unfolds, rhododendron forests will paint the mountainsides. Graceful hues will make your heart sing as you travel with views of natural canopies glimmering in the sunlight. Trekking higher up, you will suddenly realize the challenge your legs will be going through — but tread slowly — as each step is nothing but sheer determination. The occasional surge of fatigue will be quickly forgotten by the breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchchhre peaks emerging on the horizon.

Khopra Danda at 3,660 meters is a place of pure exhilaration. The community lodge, a beacon of warmth in the wilderness, will offer you respite. As you rest on the ledge, incredible panoramic views of white peaks will seem to stretch endlessly. The mountain ranges spread in front of you like a live map of  – Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Geological grandeur is one of many things that can be viewed at this place.

Further ahead, the trip to Khayar Lake is actually considered the trek’s ultimate destination. At 4,700 meters, this sacred lake is nestled beneath Annapurna South. When you reach here, it will feel like a hidden world of spiritual significance. Legends here tell of beliefs – that those who bathe in its waters will touch heaven in the afterlife. In this breathtaking wilderness, the crisp mountain air surrounding you on all sides, the reflection of snow-capped peaks on the lake, the absolute silence – all these are moments of purity, joy, and bliss.

You will trek through traditional Gurung and Magar villages of beauty. In these villages, each step will feel like a cultural discovery, with locals greeting you with their warm smiles. You will even spend a night or two in these centuries-old villages known for their hospitality. The simple teahouses, your homes for the night, will become windows into local life, where you’ll share stories of your own.

This is a moderately difficult trek offering you some challenges versus huge amounts of rewards in terms of natural beauty. In some days, your muscles will beg for mercy but your determination should give way to little steps. Breathe easy in these moments of physical struggle but rewards are always just around the corner in the form of magnificent views – of alpine forests,  distant snow-capped peaks, and the ever-changing landscapes. And as you descend further, you will enjoy mornings of sunrise, days of fresh environment, and evenings at lodges in warm food and a comfortable bed.

This journey of self-discovery is akin to pilgrimage through one of the world’s most stunning landscapes. This is not just a walk through mountains – it’s an invitation to experience the raw, untouched beauty of Nepal, and to connect with a landscape that will enrich your experience in the wilderness.

The route is scenic, with mesmerizing views of the changing landscapes, but the ongoing construction and expansion in the highway means the trip will be a slow one. Leaving behind the serene beauty of Pokhara, you will have plenty of time to reflect on the remarkable adventure you had in the past week. Later, upon arriving in Kathmandu you will immediately notice the vibrant energy of the city — a stark contrast to the peaceful trails you just travelled. In the evening, you can explore around, visit shops for souvenirs, or simply relax in a session of massage. Later, as we gather for the dinner, we will share stories of our unforgettable trip in the Annapurna Region.
