  • Stay in teahouses, tiny lodges and experience the hospitality at some of the remotest regions close to the mountains.

Trekking the Manaslu Circuit, a hidden gem, is an activity done at close quarters in the northwest region of Kathmandu. Nestled in the east of Annapurna massif, this breathtaking adventure will inspire every trekker who accepts the challenge to explore its rugged natural beauty. This circuit will take you to some of the remotest parts of Nepal with very little habitation and untouched natural beauty. In this trek of Manaslu Circuit designed by Trek Me Nepal, you will have an unparalleled experience. Views of Stunning panoramas, a glimpse into the life of rural Nepal, and trekking the harsh terrains that will push you to your limits — these are the characteristics of this trek. But it’s rewarding; it’s quite rewarding, and memorable too.

Beginning on this two-weeks’ journey, you’ll travel in a world that seems cut-off from the daily hustle and bustle of modern urban lifestyle. This is also a chance to get connected to nature in its purest form. The trek starts after a day’s drive in Jagat, in the dense subtropical foothills of vibrant green terraced farms. Equally inviting are the forests that take you on ascending trails. At the earliest day of the trek, the scenery transforms dramatically — going from rich forests to almost-barren alpine landscapes shadowed by snow-capped peaks.

As you journey on, the peaks seem ever so closer and appear as if they are piercing the sky. One such remarkable, among many others, is the focus of this trek — Mount Manaslu. The world’s eighth-highest peak at 8,163 metres, Manaslu is often called the “Spirit Mountain,” — as it looms magnificently over the entire circuit. Making for an inspiring trek, Manaslu is but one of many peaks — others being Ganesh Himal, Himal Chuli, and other lesser-known unnamed peaks. Their ever-looming silhouettes and shadows will definitely make-up for a pleasurable sight during days of challenging trek.

During the trek, you will find that the most challenging and formidable task is crossing the high-altitude Larkya-La Pass. At 5,106 metres, it is not only one of the longest but also one of the highest passes in Nepal. The ascent is difficult, that tests your physical mental endurance; but once you reach the top, you’ll have a view like no other on the planet. The magnificence and satisfaction that you will gain here will fuel you for years to come. And as you gradually descend on the other side, the thin air will return to normal, the panoramic views will appear more  magical, and you’ll savour the overwhelming beauty of the landscapes as far as the eye can see.

Manaslu is a region of diverse ethnicities with time-worn monasteries and traditions alike. Prayer flags, mountain breeze and impossibly rugged terrain mark this region that’s largely untouched by modernity. In Spring, the lower valleys are filled with rhododendron blooms, and if you happen to be here in Autumn, you’ll enjoy crystal-clear views of the surrounding mountains. But beauty  is not without its challenges. The terrain is rough and rugged, the altitude demands gradual acclimatisation, and the thin air at higher altitudes will take a mental and physical toll. Things will get rewarding, though, with treats of wildlife, immersion in nature, and diverse vegetation.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is more than just a physical journey; it’s a spiritual one too. Away from the more crowded routes, Manaslu Circuit is a chance to enjoy solitude and challenge yourself. It’s a chance to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature. Trek Me Nepal urges you to take this journey that will fuel and inspire you for decades to come.

Day 14
Trek to Jagat ; Overnight in a Teahouse
Trek Distance 26km
Highest Altitude 1,290 m
Trek Duration 6-7 hrs

Although the name is the same, ‘Jagat’, which you will be reaching today, is a completely different place from ‘Jagat’, that you set off from, towards the beginning of this trek. Today, starting after breakfast from Tilche, you’ll first walk through beautiful highland pastures and later, through forests of rhododendron trees. Mani walls and prayer flags will greet you along the way; and as you come near Dharapani, you will walk along the riverbank on stone-paved stairs. Thus, after about three hours out of Tilche, you’ll have arrived at the popular village of Dharapani at the bank of Marsyangdi River. Dharapani is a place where the Manaslu Circuit connects with the Annapurna Circuit. Trekkers coming in for Annapurna region will mingle with trekkers coming out of Manaslu region, making for a spectacular sight of several nationalities from around the world. Sharing laughter and speaking a dozen languages, the ambience at Dharapani, one of the remotest locations on the planet, is unique in itself.

Coming out of Dharapani, scenic views of local villages will keep you on the rugged track to Jagat. Arriving at the village of Tal, mid-way to Jagat, you will be coming closer to the end of this trek. Ahead of Tal, you will encounter several waterfalls on your way. Lush forests, terraced fields, and a growing number of houses will signify that you’re coming close to larger villages. Finally it’s there — Jagat — the place where you’ll rest for the night. And this marks the end of the actual trek of Manaslu Circuit. You will lie down in a teahouse and take a long breath of satisfaction as you’ll have completed one of the most difficult treks in Nepal. You’ll realise that this trek has been nothing but the passing of a test of your own endurance and determination.
