The Upper Mustang Trek with Yara is a 16-day trekking itinerary that takes you to the remote and isolated region of Upper Mustang, situated in the north-central part of Nepal. The trek offers an incredible opportunity to explore the unique culture, traditions, and lifestyles of the local people, who have preserved their ancient Tibetan culture for centuries.
The trek starts with a sightseeing tour of the historic and cultural sites of Kathmandu, including Swayambhunath, Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath. Then, you will drive to Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna region, from where you will take a short flight to Jomsom, the starting point of the trek.
The trek takes you through the picturesque villages of Kagbeni, Chele, Syangboche, Dhakmar, and Lo-Manthang, where you will explore ancient monasteries, caves, and local markets. You will also have an excursion day in Lo Manthang to explore the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Mustang, which was once a part of the Tibetan Empire.
The trek also includes a visit to Luri Gompa, a 15th-century Buddhist monastery famous for its ancient frescoes and murals. Finally, you will trek back to Jomsom, from where you will take a flight to Pokhara and then drive back to Kathmandu.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. If your arrival is in the evening, we will hold a guide briefing at the hotel. However, if you arrive during the day, we will have the briefing at our office. The guide briefing will give you an overview of the trek and answer any questions you may have.
Today, you will have a complete day to discover the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, including Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the afternoon, we will have a pre-trek briefing where you should bring 2 passport-size photos and travel insurance papers. Our guide will give you important information and answer any questions you may have about the trek.

After breakfast, you will take a tourist deluxe bus to Pokhara, a scenic city located about 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. It takes around 6-7 hours to reach Pokhara. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel and rest.

After an early breakfast, you will take a short flight to Jomsom, a town located in the Kali Gandaki Valley. From Jomsom, you will trek to Kagbeni, a small village situated at the entrance of Upper Mustang. The trek takes around 3 hours, and you will stay here at a teahouse.

You will trek to Muktinath, a sacred Hindu and Buddhist temple located at an altitude of 3710 meters. After visiting the temple, you will drive back to Jomsom, a town located in the Kali Gandaki Valley. The trek takes around 5 hours, and the drive takes around 2 hours.
