Imagine standing on the edge of the world, where the sky meets the earth in a domino of snow-capped peaks. This helicopter tour to Everest is your medium to get to that dream. In a single day, you will experience the Himalayas like never before. You will be soaring above rugged valleys, landing in remote mountain villages and witnessing the grandeur of the world’s highest peaks up close.
Your journey begins in Kathmandu, where you will board a helicopter and ascend into the clouds. The flight to Lukla, with its iconic runway, is the start. From there, the helicopter carries you higher into the Everest region, where the air is thin, and the views are nothing short of extraordinary. You’ll touch down at Syangboche or Pheriche.
The highlight of this trip? Breakfast at Hotel Everest View, perched at 3,880 meters. Here, you will get to savor a warm meal while gazing at the towering figures of Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. The silence is peaceful, the air is crisp and the sense of awe you feel at the feet of these mountains is overwhelming.
This tour is designed for those who crave adventure but value comfort. It is for travelers who want to witness the beauty of Himalayas without the physical demands of trekking. With all permits, transfers and even warm down jackets taken care of, you are free to focus on the experience.By the time you return to Kathmandu, you will carry memories of a day that will feel like a lifetime. This is your chance to touch the sky, to stand in the shadow of giants and to see the world from a perspective few ever will. The Himalayas are calling. Will you answer?
The day begins early, just as you get a glimpse of the first light of dawn in Kathmandu. At 6:00 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel and whisk you away to the domestic airport. You will feel the crisp morning air and see the city, which is at an altitude of about 1,400 meters above sea level, wake up before your eyes on your way there. Our staff will guide you through check-in and boarding to make sure you have a seamless start to your tour.
By 6:30 AM, you’ll be soaring above the clouds, leaving the bustling city behind. The 45-minute flight to Lukla’s Tenzing Hillary Airport is nothing short of magical. You see the Himalayas in their full glory, snow-capped peaks piercing the sky, deep valleys with rivers, and the occasional glimpse of a remote village in the mountainside. Lukla, perched at 2,845 meters, is the gateway to the Everest region. Its iconic runway, which is carved into the side of the mountain, is thrilling to land upon.
From Lukla, we continue higher into the Himalayas. At around 7:30 AM, the helicopter ascends toward Pheriche or Syangboche, depending on the size of your group and weather conditions. This flight is short, just 15 to 20 minutes.
If you’re in a group of five, the helicopter will touch down briefly in Pheriche before continuing to Syangboche. Smaller groups will fly directly to Syangboche, where the air is thinner at 3,880 meters. From above, the Everest region looks like a living postcard with its jagged peaks, glacial rivers, and the occasional prayer flag fluttering in the wind.
By 8:00 AM, you will be at the iconic Hotel Everest View, the highest-placed hotel in the world. As you dig into your warm, hearty breakfast, you can gaze at the towering Mount Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse that loom over the horizon. The air is crisp and pure, and the silence is only broken by the occasional fluttering of things in the wind. You can take your time to soak in the views, snap photos, and simply exist in the moment.
At 9:15 AM, it’s time for you to board the helicopter once more for the return flight to Lukla. During the descent, you see a fresh perspective of the scene, with sunlight now illuminating the valleys and the snowy peaks in golden hues of colors. From Lukla, the helicopter will carry you back to Kathmandu in 45-minutes.
