Mardi Himal is a lesser-known gem in the Annapurna region of Nepal and a perfect escape from the modern lifestyle. This 9-day Mardi Himal Trek takes you into the untouched wilderness of the Himalayas, offering a peaceful and scenic alternative to the more crowded Annapurna trekking routes.
Ideal for both beginners and experienced trekkers, this moderately difficult trek from Trek Me Nepal combines breathtaking mountain views with rich cultural experiences, making it one of the best offbeat trekking options in Nepal.
The journey begins in lower subtropical landscapes and gradually ascends through lush rhododendron forests, oak, and bamboo groves. As altitude increases, the terrain transforms into rugged alpine landscapes with dramatic Himalayan scenery.
During spring, the hills come alive with blooming rhododendrons that paint the forests red, while autumn offers crystal-clear skies and the best mountain visibility, making it the most preferred season for the Mardi Himal Trek. Winter brings colder conditions and slippery trails in higher elevations.
Throughout the trail, you will witness stunning views of Annapurna South, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Mardi Himal, along with other peaks of the Annapurna massif. The iconic view of Machapuchare appears almost close enough to touch, making every step worthwhile.
The trek also offers deep cultural immersion as you pass through traditional Gurung villages like Lwang, where local communities preserve their heritage, lifestyle, and warm hospitality. Visitors can experience authentic Nepali culture by staying in teahouses, sharing meals, and interacting with locals.
Stone-built houses, terraced fields, yak herding, and traditional craftsmanship reflect a lifestyle deeply connected with nature. Each village along the Mardi Himal itinerary offers a glimpse into this harmonious mountain life.
Although no prior trekking experience is required, good physical fitness is essential, as trekkers walk 5–6 hours daily across varied terrain, including ascents and descents.
The Mardi Himal 9 Days Trek is not just a trekking route but a journey through diverse ecosystems, rich culture, and some of the most spectacular Himalayan views in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is truly one of the best beginner trekking Nepal options for those seeking an authentic Himalayan adventure.
Begin your journey in Kathmandu, drive to Pokhara, and trek through lush forests and alpine ridges to Mardi Himal Base Camp. Descend via scenic villages to Lwang, return to Pokhara and Kathmandu, and depart with unforgettable Himalayan memories.

After breakfast, we will begin the scenic eight-hour drive back to Kathmandu. Right after embarking you will have final glimpses of the majestic Annapurna mountain range coming out of Pokhara.
The route is scenic, with mesmerising views of the changing landscapes, but the ongoing construction and expansion in the highway means the trip will be a slow one. Leaving behind the serene beauty of Pokhara, you will have plenty of time to reflect on the remarkable adventure you had in the past week.
Later, upon arriving in Kathmandu you will immediately notice the vibrant energy of the city — a stark contrast to the peaceful trails you just travelled. In the evening, you can explore around, visit shops for souvenirs, or simply relax in a session of massage.
Later, as we gather for the dinner, we will share stories of our unforgettable trip in the Annapurna Region.

Breakfast
After breakfast, or depending upon your flight schedule, we will transfer you to the airport. As your plane takes off from the runway in Kathmandu, your journey to Nepal comes to an end for this time — until you decide to visit again for some memorable and soul-searching trip in the Himalayas.
