Trek Me Nepal has proudly expanded its international sales strategy by entering the Japanese travel market with a focused mission to promote Nepal as a preferred travel destination through direct engagement with Japan’s leading travel agencies.
As part of our strategic outreach, Founding Member and Executive Head Mr. Dhiraj Kandel, Sales and Marketing Head Mr. Prakash Regmi, and Managing Director Mr. Ram Khadka led a comprehensive Japan Sales Call Visit, meeting top Japanese tour operators and agencies to establish long-term business collaborations and present Nepal’s travel offerings.
This sales mission was made possible through the outstanding coordination and support of two experienced Travel Consultants Ms. Carol Kobayakawa and Mr. Takeshi Oku, two highly experienced professionals in the field of destination marketing.
Trek Me Nepal conducted one-on-one sales meetings with Japan’s top travel companies. These sessions allowed us to share our vision for Nepal tourism, present customized tour packages aligned with Japanese travel preferences, and highlight our unique strengths in cultural, historical, and soft-adventure travel.
Many Japanese agencies already work with big travel companies in Nepal, but Trek Me Nepal stood out by offering something different: flexible plans, personal service, rich cultural experiences, and genuine local connections that larger companies often miss.

Why Japan is a Strategic Market for Nepal Tourism
Japan offers direct flight connectivity to Kathmandu, unlike many of our Western source markets. A growing interest in South Asian culture and spirituality, an increasing number of Nepalese students and workers in Japan, and the maximum number of people are in the retirement age group, between 60 and 70 years old. They are usually healthy, have free time, and have savings that they like to spend on travel.
There is also a strong cultural alignment. Japanese travelers value cleanliness, comfort, spiritual experiences, and well-organized, peaceful travel. These preferences are naturally reflected in many aspects of Nepal’s tourism landscape.
Key Insights from the Meetings
During the B2B meetings and consultations, we gathered essential market insights:
Travel Style
Japanese travelers favor light touring, cultural immersion, and heritage sightseeing over physically demanding trekking. Our offerings, like Kathmandu Valley heritage tours, Lumbini spiritual circuits, and peaceful nature retreats, were well received.
Accommodation Preferences
Cleanliness and comfort are highly prioritized. Many Japanese guests specifically request hotel rooms with bathtubs, associating them with hygiene and relaxation. We are actively working to integrate this preference into our accommodation partnerships.
Traveler Demographics
Most outbound Japanese travelers fall in the 60 to 75 age group. These individuals seek calm, meaningful, and thoughtfully organized travel experiences.
Youth Travel and Exchange Programs
High school students from Japan are increasingly visiting Nepal for cultural exchange. With a strong interest in English communication and cultural learning, Trek Me Nepal sees promising potential in student-focused programs.
How Trek Me Nepal Stands Apart
Trek Me Nepal sets itself apart by offering customizable itineraries built around client needs and interests, experienced English-speaking local guides who provide authentic insights, cultural sensitivity, and attention to detail, clean and calm travel experiences suitable for senior travelers, and responsive and flexible coordination for itinerary design.
FAM Trips for Japanese Travel Partners
To further strengthen relationships, Trek Me Nepal is organizing Familiarization Trips for some of the selective Japanese travel companies. These trips will offer a firsthand experience of our services, including guided cultural visits, hotel inspections based on Japanese comfort standards, interactive local experiences, and model itineraries for both senior and student travelers.
Supported by the Japan Sales Call Proposal
The outreach efforts were anchored by the Japan Sales Call Proposal presented by Ms. Carol Kobayakawa and Mr. Takeshi Oku. Their strategy included sales call management and appointment setting, content localization and Japanese-language presentations, and destination marketing consultation aligned with Trek Me Nepal’s growth goals.
Their expertise in sustainable tourism and destination branding played a vital role in making this mission impactful and focused.
Looking Ahead
Trek Me Nepal is now developing Japan-specific travel programs, including Senior Citizen Packages, Cross-Cultural Learning Packages for Students, Guided and Relaxed Tours, Spiritual and Nature Retreats Tours, and partnerships with hotels offering Japanese-style amenities and hospitality.
With attention to cultural preferences, personalized service, and long-term collaboration, Trek Me Nepal is fully committed to becoming a trusted and reliable partner in the Japanese travel market.
