The ideal seasons for trekking in Nepal are typically from March to early May and from September to November. While it is possible to trek from December to February, it can be quite cold and less crowded. The rainy season occurs from June to August, and we generally do not recommend trekking during this time. However, if you are only able to trek during this season, please contact us via email and we can offer some suggestions.
To prevent altitude-related issues, it is important to gradually increase altitude during the trek. Our Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass Trek are specifically designed to average a daily elevation gain of around 300 meters or 1000 feet, which is recommended by high altitude doctors to minimize any potential elevation problems. Our guides are highly experienced in identifying symptoms related to acute mountain sickness (AMS) and each carries a pulse oximeter to monitor your blood oxygen levels regularly.
Individuals who have acute or chronic health conditions that affect their stamina, range of motion, coordination, or balance may face challenges in completing the trek. If you are uncertain about your physical preparedness, it is recommended to consult a physician well before booking your trip.
We offer limitless adventure opportunities to anyone who is willing and in good health. In the past, we have had families with children as young as seven years old complete the Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass Trek, and our oldest trekkers have been in their late seventies. We recommend that families plan a private trek and allocate a few additional days for the trip. Please feel free to reach out to us for any assistance with the arrangements.
