The recently opened Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass trek provides an exciting option for high-pass trekking in Khumbu. The ideal time to embark on this journey is towards the end of the monsoon season. At that time the vibrant flowers blooming throughout Nagpala create a stunning, colorful carpet-like landscape. The locals travel in a caravan-like fashion down the mountain to conduct business at Namche. Since the villages in this region are secluded.

The enormous glaciers and magnificent views of Mount Everest and its neighboring Cho Oyo set this trek apart. Since you can define from the traditional Everest Base Camp trek.   • 3 nights in Kathmandu at a (3 ) star hotel in twin-sharing/double rooms with breakfast (BB).

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the Hotel

Our representative will meet you at the airport when you arrive in Kathmandu and drive you to your hotel. The rest of the day can be used for relaxation or city exploration.


If your arrival is in the evening, we will hold a guide briefing at the hotel. However, if you arrive during the day, we will have the briefing at our office. The guide briefing will give you an overview of the trek and answer any questions you may have.

Day 2
Fly from (Kathmandu/Manthali)- Lukla(2,846m) and then trek to Phakding

After an early breakfast, we will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight itself is an exhilarating experience as you get to see stunning views of the Himalayas. After landing in Lukla, we will begin our trek towards Phakding. The trail passes through several villages and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar

We will start our trek after breakfast and follow the Dudh Koshi River towards Namche Bazaar. We will cross several suspension bridges and climb up steep trails to reach the town. Namche Bazaar is a bustling market town that offers stunning views of the Himalayas.

Acclimatization Day & Hike - Visit Visitor Park - Hotel Everest View - Namche

We will spend this day in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize to the high altitude. You can buy trekking gear and handicrafts and find accommodation. We will also hike to the Sherpa Cultural Museum and Syanboche Airport (highest airport in Nepal), Hotel Everest View, which offers breathtaking views of Everest and few other places.

Day 5
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole

After breakfast, we will begin our trek towards Dole. The trail offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape and passes through rhododendron forests, small villages, and yak pastures. We will stop at  Mong-La for lunch before continuing on to Dole.

Trek from Dole to Machhermo

On this day, we will trek to Machhermo, a charming village nestled at the foothills of a scenic valley. The trail gradually ascends, allowing us to enjoy breathtaking views of the nearby mountains. We will spend the night in Machhermo.

After breakfast, we will trek towards the Gokyo Lakes, a series of six glacial lakes located in the Gokyo Valley. The lakes are known for their stunning turquoise color and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Hike from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri(5,357m) and return to Gokyo

Today we will hike up to Gokyo Ri, a small peak that offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas. We will start early in the morning to catch the sunrise and spend some time taking in the views before descending back to Gokyo.

After breakfast, we’ll set out on our journey to Lunden. The Renjo La Pass, which provides breathtaking views of the neighboring peaks, will be crossed by us. Then, as we approach Lunden, a small settlement in a valley, we will start to descend.

Day 13
Full day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley & Farewell Dinner

Today is a Sightseeing day, and you can spend it as per your preference. You will have a complete day to discover the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, including Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. 

If you desire to prolong your stay in Nepal, we provide well-known trips to Pokhara, Chitwan National Park, and other cultural heritage tours. Furthermore, we offer outbound tours to Tibet, India, and Bhutan. Lastly, you will relish a farewell dinner at a fancy restaurant to conclude your journey.

Final Departure

Our representative will transfer you to the airport as per your flight schedule, and you will fly back home with beautiful memories of your Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass trek.

Meals

During the Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass, all meals will be provided except for breakfast in Kathmandu. Guests will also enjoy welcome and farewell dinners.

While on the trek, breakfast and dinner will be served at the lodges or teahouses where we spend the night, and lunch will be provided on the way to the next destination. The menu options include Nepalese, Tibetan, continental, and Indian cuisines.

For breakfast, guests can expect hot beverages, toast, pancakes, eggs, and other items. Lunch will typically include rice, noodles, potatoes, pizza, pasta, burgers, and meat dishes, among others.

Soup is served as an appetizer during dinner, followed by a main course that is similar to the lunch menu, with a dessert and hot beverage. Accomodation

During the Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass trek, accommodation will be provided at the Top 5-star hotels in Kathmandu and lodges during the trek. All accommodations are based on twin sharing, and a single supplement is available upon request for an additional fee.

Trek Me Nepal will arrange rooms with attached washrooms, but some lodges may have shared washing and toilet facilities.

Please note that while single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and at lower elevations during the trek, they may be harder to find at higher elevations. The types and standards of accommodation can vary depending on the location during the Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass trek.

What is the Best Season for Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass Trekking?

The ideal seasons for trekking in Nepal are typically from March to early May and from September to November. While it is possible to trek from December to February, it can be quite cold and less crowded. The rainy season occurs from June to August, and we generally do not recommend trekking during this time. However, if you are only able to trek during this season, please contact us via email and we can offer some suggestions.

What about acclimatization and altitude?

To prevent altitude-related issues, it is important to gradually increase altitude during the trek. Our Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass Trek are specifically designed to average a daily elevation gain of around 300 meters or 1000 feet, which is recommended by high altitude doctors to minimize any potential elevation problems. Our guides are highly experienced in identifying symptoms related to acute mountain sickness (AMS) and each carries a pulse oximeter to monitor your blood oxygen levels regularly.

 

What are the physical requirements to ensure that I am capable enough for trekking?

Individuals who have acute or chronic health conditions that affect their stamina, range of motion, coordination, or balance may face challenges in completing the trek. If you are uncertain about your physical preparedness, it is recommended to consult a physician well before booking your trip.

Are solo female travelers safe on Himalayan treks?

We offer limitless adventure opportunities to anyone who is willing and in good health. In the past, we have had families with children as young as seven years old complete the Gokyo Lakes and Renjo La Pass Trek, and our oldest trekkers have been in their late seventies.
