  • Accommodation for three nights in Kathmandu is included in a 3-star hotel with twin-sharing/double rooms and breakfast provided. (private room accommodation can be organized at an extra cost).

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is a gateway to Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant markets, and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, you should visit Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), obtain a tourist visa, and clear customs and baggage.

Transportation options include pre-arranged airport pickup, taxis, and ride-sharing apps. Accommodations include hotels, guesthouses, and hostels. Currency exchange and ATMs are available at the airport and in the city.

A local SIM card is recommended for affordable local communication and data services. Orientation and exploration include visiting Thamel, a popular tourist area with vibrant streets, shops, restaurants, and nightlife. Cultural sites like Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath Temple, and Durbar Square are also worth visiting.

Day 2
Kathmandu to Sankhu

After the breakfast is over you will first travel to Sankhu by bus. Traveling from Kathmandu to Sankhu is a simple and convenient journey. The town is located 17 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu and offers various transportation options, including local buses, microbuses, taxis, and private vehicles.

The journey typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Sankhu is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, including the Vajrayogini Temple and traditional Newari architecture.

Visitors can also explore the town’s narrow alleys and scenic views of the surrounding hills and villages. It’s recommended to check local bus schedules and hire a local guide for a more enjoyable experience.

Day 3
Sankhu to Nagarkot

Today we trek from Sankhu to Nagarkot.  Sankhu, a historic town northeast of Kathmandu, is a starting point for hiking to Nagarkot. The trail starts from Sankhu and leads through scenic landscapes, terraced fields, and traditional villages.

The duration of the hike can range from 4 to 6 hours, depending on the trail and pace. The terrain includes uphill and downhill sections, forested areas, and open landscapes. Nagarkot, a popular hill station with stunning Himalayan views, offers accommodations from guesthouses to resorts.

To witness the sunrise, wake up early, choose a viewpoint, and dress warmly. Arrive in advance to secure a comfortable spot and witness the magical sunrise. Explore nearby villages, hiking trails, and the Changu Narayan Temple complex.

Shared vehicles, such as microbuses or tempos, are budget-friendly and follow specific routes. Hiking back to Kathmandu can be an alternative route, exploring alternative trails or the same route as Nagarkot. Before departing, check availability and schedules of transportation options, especially if you have a specific time in mind.

Alternative routes, such as hiking to Changu Narayan and then taking a local bus or taxi, can also be considered. Be mindful of potential delays if using public transportation.
